Woman: God’s crowning creation

Today we look at part of God’s design and what He planned for women. I invite you ladies to give yourself room to look back to your youth and childhood.

Can you recall some of the dreams you had of being the queen or the princess? Had you always known you were to be a mom? Did you feel yourself to be part of something larger? Did you imagined yourself as Joan of Arc or Guinevere from King Arthur, Maid Marian from Robin Hood or Arwen from The Lord of The Rings?

Did you twirl in skirts or dress up in grandma’s old clothes? Who did you pretend to be? Did you dream of being on stage or part of some great victory?

May I say that in your dreams . . . you were beautiful, you were brave and courageous in your play and you were rescued by the hero of all your dreams. I venture to say that those feeling and dreams are a better picture of the image of how and why God made you a woman.

It may have been more true to God’s design than anything else you’ve experienced so far.

“The heart of her husband safely trusts her.” Proverbs 31:11

Three things, I have come to believe, are deeply set in the feminine heart. It may very well be the best treasure the world has to offer.

These are not original with me and have been expanded upon by John and Stasi Eldredge in their new book, Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul. I am convinced that God’s spirit is behind this book.

First, a woman must be pursued and romanced, sought after with diligence. The true heart of a woman wants to know and feel the longing in the man who loves her, that he will traverse great distances and fight the beast, if needed, to win this girl. Anything less does not satisfy God’s design and heart
Secondly, the feminine heart wants an irreplaceable role in the Grand Adventure!
She is fierce! Eldredge says: “Try insulting her children or husband or her best friend!” This heart is loyal; it will fight for what is right.

Thirdly, the feminine heart is, by its very created intent, uniquely beautiful! That beauty is waiting to be unveiled! All of creation was a developing expression of God’s heart for beauty. It’s been said that nature is first beautiful not functional. The female version of human was the final demonstration of God’s creative work. It was the final achievement and crowning glory to finish His artistic work of creation. It is reflected in this poem by Bethany Dillion:

BEAUTIFUL

I want to be beautiful
And make you stand in awe
Look in side my heart
And be amazed
I want to hear you say
Who I am is quite enough
I just want to be worthy of love
And beautiful

Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord. Psalm 45:10-11 (NIV)

Women, close your eyes and picture a favorite outside scene, some place you’ve been or seen and that reminds you of how glorious nature and creation really is. You need to see in your mind’s eye a place or view that reveals the beauty and mastery of creation.

Now keeping your eyes closed, with that picture in mind, I want you to repeat these words:

1. The whole vast world was incomplete without me!
2. I was created because things were not right without me!
3. Creation reached its highest peak, its most glorious expression, when I was created!
4. I am the crowning achievement of God’s creative work!
5. I’m wonderfully made and my soul knows it.
6. I’m made in the likeness and image of God; that image was best expressed as a woman!
7. It was not good for men to be alone with God’s creation, so I was made!
8. I’m God’s message in feminine form! Nothing else can do that!
